a greater good

When Jason and I moved to SC, there were many things that I missed about MA. Naturally, my family and friends were at the top of the list, but right underneath them was Dunkin' Donuts. There was only one Dunkins that was a fifteen minute ride from our house and the employers were sometimes questionable (if you want a story about them, just let me know, because I have a few). I decided to write the company a letter letting them know how much I missed hazelnut iced coffee. I told the company that I missed having them around and I was a proponent of more DD's in the South. Whether or not that actually came to fruition I may never know, since we moved back to Ma, where there is a Dunkins on every corner.

However, I was rewarded for my loyalty because a few weeks later I opened my mailbox to find a pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee waiting to be brewed and iced.

A couple days later I emailed Trugreen ChemLawn. I had a new confidence that all I had to do was tell a company how much I liked their product and I would be rewarded. After letting TruGreen know how much I adored their ability to turn SC crabgrass into something...green, I told them they were welcome to transform our lawn (which was really pitiful) and use us on their website for before and after pics, free of charge.

I was ecstatic to receive a call back until the nasally lady on the phone said: "maam, we don't do things like that, but if you would like a free estimate we would be happy to come out".

After that letdown, I took a hiatus from emailing companies...until tonight. This time, my motive was unselfish. This is what I told them:

"I have always been a fan of Newman's Own products. I love the all natural ingredients, as well as the competitive prices (the limeade is incredible!) Tonight was the first time I realized that the proceeds of Newman's Own go to charity (sometimes I think I live in a cave)...and I love Newman's Own even more. I will continue to buy Newman's Own and I'm even going to blog about it so my friends can enjoy and contribute too!"

So please buy Newman's Own and you can drink all the limeade you want while enjoying contributing to a greater good at the same time.

  3. I make it a point to choose Newman's Own off the shelf over other brands, simply because he's been proven trust-worthy to the claims that he makes as far as where the proceeds go. It's an added bonus that his products are one of the highest quality out there! Have you tried his salsas? To die for!
