Betty

OK, I admit it: I am a mini-hoarder. I've posted about this before, searching for advice on whether or not I should keep my prom dress, wedding cards, a ceramic snail, and other miscellaneous items. Well tonight I was going through a box (my intent was to find my embroidery thread, which I did find, might I add) and I came across this beautiful array of memories:

Pictured: a small portion of my bead collection, some extra pieces to a yo-yo quilt, a vintage postcard from my sister all the way from Worcester, MA, a medal from the Philadelphia marathon (um, not a placement medal by the way, but one that indicates that I did, in fact, finish. My time will not be revealed), a Kermit the Frog push pin (I have a whole entire bag of these that I bought when I was in high school. Why? Not sure, but for some odd reason I can't part with them. Any Kermit lovers out there? I will be happy to part with them if I know they are going to a good home) and lastly, drum-roll please, the keys to my first car: a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra named Betty. Seriously, Betty holds a special place in my heart. When I think about that car miles of memories come flooding back, and I smile.

And that's why I'm OK with being a mini hoarder. I feel blessed to have such rich memories, and I enjoy being able to reenter another period of my life by opening a box. A little unorganized? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.

  1. Oh, Erin, this is just another reason I find you fabulous! I have to admit, I am at least a mini-hoarder, too, and it often brings me tremendous joy & reminds me of great memories those things hold, too! We'll have to promise to keep each other in check if it gets too out of hand so we don't end up on TLC! :)

  2. Yes Jo Leigh! Let's make sure we don't have to have storage units or dumpsters in our driveways...

  3. I think that at our age we should definitely have a few boxes of memories stowed away. I do! Hopefully a Kermit fan will pop up here real soon -)
