a moment (and chocolate financiers)

This morning I was baking these fabulous chocolate financiers that I disovered on Smitten Kitchen (one of my faves).

Generally my little guys like to bake with me, but today they were happily playing in the room beside me, so I had the kichen to myself. After several minutes of playing, I heard both of them pitter patter upstairs. I planned to check on them after a few minutes, but time escaped me- I was basking in the quiet moment. I realized that at least fifteen minutes had past, and the brothers were far too quiet up there all alone.

As I nervously walked upstairs, all I could picture was that they had gotten in to my beads (again), taken all the clothes out of their drawers (again), or maybe they were drawing a mural on one of the walls (this has yet to happen). I thought to myself, "I am so angry. They are both going to have a time out for this one, AND they will have to take a marble out of the jar. Should I also take away a privelage?"

I just knew it was going to be bad.

So I creeped around the corner and that's when I saw...

this.

  3. Thanks Ladies for the comments! Sara- I think the marble jar idea has been around the block a few times, but we have been using it for Mitchell as a reward/punishment system. When he fills up the jar he gets to choose a restaurant that our family will go out to eat at. For him, this has been a very helpful. He would rather have a time-out than take a marble out of the jar...

  4. Erin, Your boys are beautiful - a true reflection of what awesome parents you and JD are! Give them a kiss for me (and put an extra marble in that jar for Mitchell!)
