green smoothies

I have loved, loved being a part of our first CSA these past few months. The veggies are wonderful and have added a lot of variety to our menu. Perhaps one of my favorite discoveries is the green smoothies we have been making (with a tip from a friend) using collard greens. Really, you can not taste the greens, only the delicious fruit. I love that sneaky feeling of watching the boys gulp down their leafy greens, always asking for more...
Our favorite fruits to add are: bananas, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and mango (not all at once, but whichever ones we have). We also add some milk and a little yogurt- drink up y'all!


  1. That is what you can do with collard greens?! Wish I knew this when I was getting so many greens with our CSA. Sounds yucky but everyone says you can't taste them-will have to try it. I have been putting melted coconut oil and flax in ours. Do you cook the greens first?
